Most people try to fix their whole bow at once. That's a lot of things to think about while also, you know, playing the fiddle. So here's a smaller idea. One habit. Five minutes a day. Improve Your Bowing With One Daily HabitThe 5-Minute Daily Bowing Routine: Pick, Drill, Record. Pick one thing. Just one. The bow stroke that's been mocking you. Drill it for five minutes. Laser focus. No noodling, no "let me just play a tune real quick." Five minutes on the hard thing, then put the fiddle down. Record it. That's your feedback loop. Do that for six days. On day six, listen back and ask one question: can I make this better? If yes β refocus. Maybe a new exercise, maybe a new angle on the same skill. Run it another six days. If no β you got it. Pick a new bowing challenge and start again. Three rules:
Not sure what to pick?

Hi Reader, We're past the halfway point of the 5-for-30 Practice Challenge. Today is Day 16. The middle is the quiet part. Nobody quits loudly. They just say "I'll play tomorrow." So today I'm not giving you a lesson. I'm showing you my own practice. I picked a tune I didn't know by heart: Westphalia Waltz. I read music fine. But reading a tune isn't knowing it. If I look away, it's gone. So I chunk it. In Strum Machine, I loop the first four bars. I read them once. Then I turn away from the...

Hey Reader, Weβre giving away a violin. Not a cheap one. A handmade one. Michael, one of our own PED members, started out on guitar. Then he picked up fiddle. Then β because apparently one instrument wasnβt enough of a project β he started building violins. Heβs made a bunch since joining, and weβve already given a few away... Iβve been playing this one. It sounds great. Itβs beautiful. And itβs easy on the eyes, which matters more than we like to admit. π I demo it a bit in this YouTube...
